Focal Map Browser Context

This extension tells the Focal Map app installed on this computer which website your active tab is on, so that time spent in the browser is attributed to the right work. It hands this to Focal Map directly on your computer (browser "native messaging") — it never sends anything over the internet itself.

What it shares with Focal Map

• The site's domain (e.g. example.com)
• A cleaned-up address — query strings, fragments, credentials and identifier-like parts are removed inside the browser, before anything is shared (e.g. https://example.com/orders/{id})
• Which browser it is, and whether the browser window is focused

Nothing else.

What it never looks at

• Page content, passwords, form values or cookies
• Your browsing history
• Background tabs — only the tab in front of you
• Incognito / InPrivate windows (the extension cannot run in them)

What Focal Map does with it

Focal Map stores your activity on this computer. If you have turned on Focal Map's optional device sync, your timeline is shared only with your own devices, end-to-end encrypted — the Focal Map service cannot read it. See the privacy policy.
